Course details
What this course covers. Level 2, Chaplain’s Essentials Part 2: The Person and Work of a Chaplain, trains men and women in the local church for spiritual care ministry under the supervision of their pastor. You’ll consider the calling and burden of a chaplain and how to balance the sacred and secular sides of the work, then learn the art of listening, basic human needs, hospital visitation, spiritual care, and serving as a spiritual guide in ethics consultations. Four lessons cover the core values of spiritual care ministry, including professionalism and standards, integrity and character, and accountability. The course closes with the ministry of presence, conflict management and resolution, building better relationships, and end-of-life care as a hospice chaplain.
Where chaplains serve. Chaplains may specialize in industrial and occupational settings, law enforcement and fire, medical, or hospital and hospice ministry.
Taught by William N. Dillon, Chaplain Melvin Reddy and Dr. Sidney L. Poe.
